Creeping.......?

We use social media and social networking on a daily basis. Facebook keeps us connected with old friends and classmates, and allows us to learn more about each other without having to ask too many questions. Think about it, all the information we REALLY need to know about someone is readily available whenever we choose to "friend" said person. Is this good, or is this bad? Is this a beneficial aspect of the ever-changing face of social media and social networking (think about how many times Facebook has changed it's layout), or is it detrimental to the interaction we really need to experience in order to keep ourselves as a society, well, sane? What do you think?

Social Media

Social Media "includes web based and mobile technologies used to turn communication into active dialogue." This can include Social Networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Flickr, and Youtube. Social media and social networking are benefitial to companies and co-workers because it allows them to connect in a highly efficient manner, largely due to the fact that many of these social networking websites are literally at workers' fingertips (ex: Facebook is on many mobile devices). Social networking is also good because it allows people of all cultures, regions, and ethnicities to connect instantly. From a business standpoint, this allows for great marketing tactics; a buyer from just about anywhere in the world has the ability to see many new products and designs of, for example, a clothing company, just by "liking" them on Facebook, or following them on Twitter. There are pros, and there are cons of social media/social networking, and I will further discuss these in my blog and paper.
